This document provides guidance on the interpretation and implementation of Article 8 ‘Extended producer responsibility’ of Directive (EU) 2019/904 on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment, also known as the Single-Use Plastics Directive. This guidance is coherent with Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation 2025/40, Directive 2008/98/EC on waste (‘Waste Framework Directive’ or ‘Directive 2008/98/EC’) and Directive (EU) 2024/3019 on urban wastewater treatment.
